If there is anyone out there in cyberland reading me, please feel free to join me in my prediction crap-shoot. I will start with my view on the rotation. With 21 days left till opening day, I still reserve the right to change this at any time. Please comment with your predictions too, if you are actually reading this.
It’s good to see Jeremy Bonderman have
a good start to his spring. His last two years trying to recover from
injury have been dreadful, but he is very positive coming into to camp, and so
far, all reports have been good. Bonderman surrendered no runs on one hit and ended with three
strikeouts. He threw 34 pitches, including 17 for strikes.
Nate Robertson gave up two runs on three hits and issued three walks
in 1 1/3 innings for Detroit, and complained of a “flaw” form the stretch. A flaw is a nice way of sugar coating a
disappointing start. Having a
sneaky feeling Nate won’t be on the roster come opening day.
Ryan Perry also got a look in the 4th, when he came on
to rescue Nate from a bases loaded jam, and he responded with an
inning-ending double play grounder. He stayed in to pitch a scoreless fifth.
Nice stuff, look to Ryan making the team in the bullpen.
Rick Porcello is scheduled to start against the Blue Jays on
Thursday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Detroit also plans on giving innings to Armando
Galarraga, Max Scherzer, Dontrelle Willis and Jose Valverde. Good luck boys.
